Catching Up

March 20, 2011

So we have to apologize.  Up until a few days ago, we hadn’t posted for a few months.  That’s not to say that we weren’t busy taking pictures of friends and family that we love…we just didn’t have the energy to stay up until 2:00 AM to post like we normally do.  Either way, we wanted to ensure that we still got these beautiful faces up on our blog.  We may have posts in the future that are more extensive for each of these shoots, but no promises!  Hope you enjoy.

In November when were down in Redlands, we did a shoot with one of Celena’s childhood friends.  It was great to re-unite and chat with an old friend.

In December, Celena’s brother and sister-in-law came to visit and asked us to take their pictures.  We love you Ho and Donna.  Alohas!

Did you know that John and Yoko are back?  Thanks to Spicer and his beautiful fiance Angel for letting us shoot these.  We love and miss you guys!

So…proof that we’ve still been busy despite our lack of posting.  Thanks to all of you who frequent our blog…it means more than you know – Kevin’s mood has a direct correlation with the positive or negative slope lines on our Google Analytics (how’s that for technical jargon…Kevin’s siblings would be proud).  Anyways, we love you all.  Come back again soon and visit.  Our blog and in person if you wish!

So we need to apologize for not diligently posting like we used to.  We promise that we’ll be more consistent.  One of the reasons we’ve been so busy (aside from the New Year, resolutions, our son turning 2, family get togethers, work, etc.) is that we’ve been preparing for the arrival of our second child *applause* *laughter* *shouts of joy*.

Being the cute mother that she is (and the great artist), Celena decided that she wanted to take these pictures when she was 20 weeks along (half way through).  She struggled getting Kevin to vision the shot she wanted, but she was extremely patient.  As we were taking these pictures, our cute little Kaniela decided that he needed to join in.  The picture with his little hand was completely random and we’re so grateful for the continuous shooting features of our camera and Kevin’s lightning fast reflexes.  However, Kaniela kissing baby took a little bit of coaching.  Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about the coming addition to the Kukui Studio family.  We can’t wait to plaster his cute little mug all over this photoblog.

We spent some time at the gym today to take pictures of Celena’s niece and had such a blast.  We started with the intention of taking just a few cute pictures of her in the gym and ended up photographing her for about two hours.  As you can tell from the pictures above, we had a lot of fun.

Our mini-session day is on Tuesday at Inland Empire Gymnastics Academy, so we’ll be sure to post a lot more then.  Thank you Carly for being such a good sport today.  We love you!

Happy 4th of July

July 4, 2010

Saluting the Flag of the United States of AmericaHow grateful I am to live in a free country.  Thank you to all of those who are serving, have served, or will serve.  Your efforts and sacrifices (as well as the sacrifices of your families) are greatly appreciated by this American.  Mahalo Nui Loa!

This photograph was taken at the Stadium of Fire held at the Lavell Edwards Stadium.  It was such a fun day with my family.  Carrie Underwood was amazing in concert, the fireworks show was memorizing, and the company was the best.

We had the opportunity to do a pretty fun photoshoot today.  Our friends at Wolverine Crossing asked us to photograph some “lifestyle” pictures for a project they’re working on (which by the way is going to be pretty awesome when it’s completed).  So we rounded up a few of our friends and asked around for people who’d be willing to be models for some cash, and we just had a blast together for about an hour.  We were pretty flattered that they asked us to help out with the project.  Thanks to our good looking models for their willingness to humor our corniness!  You were all such good sports.

I’ll try to get pictures of the final project when it is completed.  For now however…we kind of like these.

I love an opportunity to get away from my busy life and retreat into the beauty of the world around us.  This past weekend, I had the opportunity to accompany our church congregation’s youth group on a retreat.  Every now and then I think you just need to be able to get away and have some fun with friends.  To the leaders and youth of the Sunset Heights Stake, and particularly to those of my ward, thanks for a such a fun youth conference.
